Fustic House is one of the most unique wedding venues in Barbados. Pia and Joseph hosted a five-day celebration here, bringing together friends and family from across the world. Barbados has become one of my favourite places in the whole world. It has a way of slowing everything down. The light arrives differently here - softer at the edges, warmer in tone - and it shapes the way I work. As a Barbados wedding photographer, I follow that rhythm: unhurried, attentive, letting the island do what it does best.
The west coast venues are some of the most beautiful I've worked in. Old coral stone, open sea views, the kind of setting where nothing needs to be forced. Barbados wedding photography lends itself to an editorial approach - real moments, considered frames, the particular elegance of a celebration that feels completely at ease with where it is.
Barbados got under my skin the first time I worked here. There's a quality to the place that's hard to articulate - a kind of unhurried elegance, a warmth that isn't just the climate. The west coast has this particular stillness to it: calm water, soft light, venues that feel like they've always been there. The east coast is something else entirely - wilder, more dramatic, the Atlantic coming in hard against the cliffs. I love both, for entirely different reasons.
What I notice most, photographically, is how generous the island is. The light in the dry season - December through April - is extraordinary, that golden hour stretching longer than it has any right to. But I've worked here outside those months too, and there's something about a quieter Barbados - lush, private, unhurried - that I find just as compelling. Wherever the day unfolds, the island has a way of giving you everything you need.
