Ktima Lindos

Summer and Aaron gathered their closest family and friends on Rhodes for their Ktima Lindos wedding, and the island did what Rhodes does in summer - brilliant light, deep blue water, whitewashed architecture catching the heat of the afternoon. For a destination wedding on a Greek island, it is hard to imagine a more considered setting.

Greece earns its reputation without apology. The architecture, the landscape, the food, the light - all of it operates at a level of drama and beauty that has been drawing people here for centuries, and shows no sign of stopping. A clifftop ceremony in Santorini, a villa wedding on the Ionian coast, an intimate celebration on one of the lesser-known islands where the tourists haven't yet arrived in numbers - these are settings with a mythic quality to them, a sense that the land itself understands what it means to mark an occasion.

As a Greece wedding photographer, I work with that drama. The contrast here is extraordinary - brilliant white against deep Aegean blue, ancient stone beside a table set for a feast, a sunset that seems almost engineered for the occasion. Greece wedding photography lends itself to an editorial approach: bold, considered frames that hold both the intimacy of the celebration and the scale of everything surrounding it. There is a reason couples have been choosing Greece for destination weddings for decades. It gives you everything, and it does so completely on its own terms.

Greece is not one place but many. The mainland, the Peloponnese, and more than six thousand islands - each with its own character, its own landscape, its own relationship to the sea. The country spans a remarkable range of terrain: from the mountains of the north to the volcanic drama of the Cyclades, from the lush green of the Ionian islands to the arid, sun-bleached beauty of the Dodecanese.

The most sought-after wedding destinations tend to cluster around a few key regions. Santorini is the iconic choice - the caldera views, the white-washed architecture, the sunsets that stop conversation mid-sentence. Crete is the largest of the islands and perhaps the most layered - Venetian harbours, ancient Minoan ruins, mountain villages, and a coastline that runs for hundreds of miles. Corfu, in the Ionian, is greener and more lush, with a distinctly Venetian and British colonial influence that gives it an architecture unlike anywhere else in Greece.

The climate is one of the most reliable in Europe. The wedding season runs from May through October, with the peak months of June, July and August bringing near-certain sunshine and long evenings that stretch the day beautifully. September and October are arguably the finest months of all - the heat softens, the crowds thin, and the light takes on a warmth and depth that makes every frame feel considered. Greece has been the backdrop to human stories for three thousand years. It knows how to hold one more.

The best wedding venues in greece

These ten venues span the Greek mainland and five islands, chosen for genuine character rather than star ratings or name recognition alone: a family-run estate with three generations behind it, and hotels with real, documented history rather than history invented for a brochure.
