a guide on how to find a wedding photographer in italy

italy wedding photographer

Italy is truly one of the most amazing places on earth. From the breathtakingly beautiful scenery to the delicious food and wine, there is something for everyone to enjoy. And of course, let's not forget about the romance! Italy is the perfect place to get married, with its stunning venues and picturesque setting.

I am a destination wedding photographer for Italy, and I can attest to the fact that there is nothing quite like an Italian wedding. The bride and groom are surrounded by their closest family and friends, all of whom are eager to celebrate their love. There is an undeniable feeling of joy in the air, and it is truly an honor to capture these special moments. If you are looking for a place to share your own special moment, Italy is the perfect place for you.

When it comes to wedding photography, it's important to choose a photographer that you feel confident in and that you can trust to capture your big day perfectly. After all, your wedding photos will be cherished memories that you'll look back on for years to come. With so many photographers to choose from, it can be tricky to know where to start. But it's worth taking the time to find someone who suits your style and who you feel comfortable with, especially for a destination wedding in Italy. Professionalism is also important - you want someone who will be punctual, efficient and organized on the day. So if you're looking for an Italy wedding photographer, be sure to check out my work and reach out.

I gasp for air if I don't get to breathe Italian air once a year.

WHAT IS A DESTINATION WEDDING?

Lake Como wedding venue

A destination wedding is a wedding that takes place in a location away from the couple's hometown or usual residence. Destination weddings are often held in exotic or romantic locations, such as a beach resort, a historic mansion, or a vineyard.

There are many reasons why couples choose to have a destination wedding. One of the main reasons is that it allows them to escape the hustle and bustle of their everyday lives and have a unique and memorable experience. Destination weddings also tend to be more intimate affairs, as only close family and friends are typically able to attend.

However, there are also some drawbacks to destination weddings. One of the biggest is that they can be expensive, as you not only have to pay for the wedding itself but also potentially for travel and accommodations for your guests. Additionally, destination weddings can be logistically complicated to plan, as you may need to deal with things like time differences and language barriers.

That being said, destination weddings are always incredible. Some of the absolute best weddings I've shot as a destination wedding photographer have been abroad.

WHY HAVE A DESTINATION WEDDING IN ITALY?

Italy is one of the most popular destination wedding locations in the world. Couples are drawn to Italy's stunning scenery, its rich history and culture, and its delicious food and wine. Italy offers a wide variety of venues for destination weddings, from quaint countryside villas to glamorous lakeside resorts. Whilst planning a wedding in Italy is more complex than staying at home, the payoff is huge. You'll end up having a day that you and all of your guests will remember for a lifetime.

Native Italian Photographer or Destination Wedding Photographer?

If you're considering having a destination wedding in Italy, one of the big decisions you'll need to make is whether to hire a local Italian photographer or to bring in a destination wedding photographer from your own country. There are pros and cons to both choices.

On one hand, hiring a local photographer has the benefit of them knowing the ins and outs of Italy. However, the downside is they often won't speak your language meaning it can be very hard to convey the style you are going for. Also, communications in the lead-up to the wedding can be a bit disjointed.

On the other hand, hiring a destination wedding photographer has the benefit of them being familiar with your style and preferences. They'll be able to capture your wedding exactly how you want it, as they'll know what kind of shots you're looking for. Additionally, they may be able to offer you a package deal that includes travel and accommodation, which can save you money.

Ultimately, the decision of whether to hire a local Italian photographer or a destination wedding photographer is up to you. Of course, as a destination wedding photographer who has shot in Italy and travelled the country extensively - I think it's worth hiring a destination wedding photographer for your wedding in Italy. If you're having to stress about a potentially non-English speaking photographer, who doesn't fully understand your vision - you'll struggle to relax and enjoy your day.

HOW TO FIND YOUR PERFECT DESTINATION wedding photographer in italy

If you've decided that you want to hire a destination wedding photographer for Italy, then the next step is finding the perfect one for you. Here are my top 5 tips:

1. Look for photographers who have experience shooting in Italy. Make sure they know the country well and have a good understanding of the light and landscapes.

2. Check out their portfolio to see if their style matches your vision. You want to make sure you love their work before booking them.

3. Have a chat with them over Skype or email to get to know them better. This is important as you'll be spending a lot of time with them on your wedding day.

4. Make sure they are available on your wedding date. Italy is a popular destination wedding location, so many photographers get booked up well in advance.

5. Ask them about their travel and accommodation arrangements. Some photographers will include this in their package, which can save you money.
