villa le corti, greve in chianti

I've had the pleasure of visiting Florence numerous times, and one of my favorite places to visit is Greve in Chianti. My husband and I have driven through these Tuscan hills many times and it really doesn't get better. In the same area is the incredible Villa Le Corti.

Just a half hour drive (with beautiful scenery) from Florence, this exquisite example of Tuscan Renaissance architecture lies in the heart of the Chianti Classico region, surrounded by beautiful vineyards and olive groves. It's an idyllic setting for weddings and private events of all kinds.

The villa's internal courtyard serves as its focal point, enclosed by a square-shaped loggia with four elegant columns on each side. From here, you can independently access all the halls, which have gracefully preserved the charm of bygone centuries. The breathtaking avenue of cypresses, the park, and the gardens make for picture-perfect locations for fashion shows, religious ceremonies, and symbolic celebrations.

The Corsini family has owned the estate since 1363, and it spans across 230 hectares of picturesque hills and valleys, with the stunning 17th-century villa designed by Santi Tito as its centerpiece. Today, it serves as the residence for Duccio Corsini and his family. The villa is also renowned for its historic underground cellar, which is still in use today. Here, the family produces wine and extra virgin olive oil. Which just so happens to be two of my favourite things.

As a wedding photographer, I've come across some truly enchanting venues, but Villa San Michele in Fiesole has always stood out in my mind. Nestled in the hills of Fiesole, this magical villa hotel offers breath-taking views across Florence and the Arno Valley. It's easy to see why couples would fall in love with such a place, and I can't wait for the opportunity to capture its beauty through my lens.

The villa is steeped in history and artistry, with a façade designed by the school of Michelangelo and a fresco of the Last Supper adorning the walls of the Cenacolo room, once the monks' refectory. It's the perfect blend of culture and romance, making it an idyllic setting for any wedding.

One of the most striking features of Villa San Michele is its terraced Italian gardens. These gardens offer a stunning backdrop for outdoor ceremonies and provide incredible views of Florence. There are also several other picturesque spots for wedding ceremonies, such as the former Church of the monastery, the Rose Garden, the Pool Terrace, and the Lovers' Corner.

La Loggia, the heart of Villa San Michele, is a place where locals and guests from all over Italy and beyond gather to enjoy exquisite cuisine paired with the finest wines. Coupled with panoramas of Florence's skyline, it's a dining experience that perfectly marries fine food and stunning views.

Although I haven't had the pleasure of photographing a wedding at Villa San Michele yet, I can't help but imagine the incredible moments that could be captured within its walls and grounds. The combination of history, art, and natural beauty creates a truly unique atmosphere that would surely make for an unforgettable wedding day. I wholeheartedly recommend Villa San Michele to any couple seeking a luxurious and romantic venue in the heart of Tuscany.
